We build classic sandwich construction skis with a modern twist. The beauty of the sandwich ski lies in its limitless design possibilities and timeless on-snow feel, which have yet to be surpassed by any new technology. By building a sandwich construction ski with only the finest materials, we feel we are able to craft some of the most unique, lovely and lively skis around.
This method of construction—where a wood core is “sandwiched” between two layers of fiber reinforced composite (fiberglass or carbon fiber)—has many advantages. Steep sidewalls allow for unmatched edge hold and power transmission in any type of snow. Durability of the sandwich laminate has been proven over decades. The design process is highly adaptable, too: by adjusting the footprint, flex pattern, dampness and weight of each model, we can dictate how the ski will interact with the snow.
The subtleties of construction and the quality of materials play a huge roll in the final product. At Fairweather Ski Works, we go the extra mile to use the best materials available, a luxury afforded to us by our small size and big forests.
